I just got back from vacation in Massachusetts. Me and my step-brother Ike were walking down the street one night, and these kids leaned out the window and were like "It's not 40 years ago, you hippies!!" I've never been called out on being a longhair before

Massachusetts is home to liberals of the short-haired, drunken variety, a very different breed from you long-haired pot-smoking liberals.

Quote from Magilla: "any chance of a specs list for your Crysis beast? Also, any idea what it would cost to ship to AU?"

If you mean the forthcoming "sub-$2500-Crysis-maxed-out-and-still-giving-50-fps", I don't know yet. After the first Assassin prototype sells (I'm listing it tonight), my next machine is going to be for the purpose of just ridding myself of some higher-end parts burning a hole in my stock shelf: eVGA 790i Ultra / Q9550 / OCZ Reaper HPC DDR3 10600 / eVGA 9800 GX2. That one will surely meet my "super-Crysis" performance req, but it WON'T be sub-$2500. Just the four parts above cost about two grand. It'll end up being about $3500 when finished - but alas, only one of a kind for now, because I don't want to focus on that market level. I prefer the ~$2000 PC business for now. LOTS of demand, and a bang-for-the-buck sweet spot at the moment.

If you meant the one I've just built to start a new model line (the "ASR.4 Assassin"), here are its final specs:

- Asus P5N-D (a great low-dollar MB; very stable, and nicely supports higher level components without having annoying limitations that many other $150 MBs have; native 1333FSB, overclocked to 1550MHz)
- Intel Q9450 (2.66GHz, overclocked to 3.1GHz, cool and stable; the heatspreader never exceeds 58C even in the heaviest load tests, as it runs well on a nice, light 1.15v)
- OCZ SLI-Ready DDR2 800 4GB (2x2GB) (the "SLI-Ready" part doesn't mean anything to the P5N-D as it doesn't handle EPP profiles, but I like this memory because it's inexpensive, yet overclocks easily to 1000MHz on stock timings of 5-4-4-15-2T-21 and on the stock 2.1v)
- 2 x eVGA 9600 GT (SLI) (GPU/Shaders/Memory @ 650/1625/900MHz overclocked to 750/1925/1050 with max load temps @ 56C/51C)
- Zalman CNPS9700 NT CPU cooling unit + Arctic Silver 5
- Mushkin Enhanced Modular 800w PSU (VERY steady power under all loads compared to most other PSUs I've used - I'm very happy with this one. And you can even integrate the 12v rails. (IMG:http://www.pabook.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) )
- 2 x 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm SATA II 16MB cache HDDs (RAID 0, 1 TB)
- LG CD/RW DVD/RW/DL Optical Drive
- Creative SB Audigy SE 7.1
- Super Talent All-in-One Card Reader/Samsung 3.5" FDD/Gigabyte 802.11g WLAN adapter

...built into the Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black chassis, and I replaced all its stock fans (Raidmax doesn't make very good fans) with Apevias and Scythes. Runs nice and quiet. And yeah, I don't do extreme overclocking, as STABILITY is my highest priority. I beat on every machine I build (so to speak) for at least three days after break-in with extended OCCT, Prime95 and game tests, and I don't tolerate even one error/failure/glitch along the way. And I'm picky about thermal performance - for instance, I don't let the CPU heat spreader ever get within 12C of spec, I insist on a minimum 40C delta from the T-junction, and a 50C Northbridge is as high as I'll allow - even with the hotter running nVidia ones. I even test prototype machines in an 85 degree F room for 48 hours just to be very sure that, even overclocked, the model will stay under all thermal specs. Gamers don't always provide ideal environments for their gear, you know. (IMG:http://www.pabook.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I'm not 100% sure about price yet as I haven't done the final sheet on it, but it's looking like I'll be charging $2098. This isn't a "Crysis @ 50fps with everything maxed out" machine, but I think it'll well satisfy most gamers for that price. I also have Fraps benchmarks on the prototype with Oblivion fully maxed at 98fps avg and Bioshock fully maxed at 72fps avg. Will be testing UT3 on it later tonight. This is why, when I only talk about one game, it's Crysis at the moment, because however it runs Crysis, simply add 20fps or more for pretty much every other game in existence. (IMG:http://www.pabook.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

As for shipping to Aus - sorry, bro, but I haven't gotten into international shipping just yet. I'm reluctant to deal with dual-use technology approvals from US govt. until I build the company a bit further. They let a little thing like building a machine which can be used to provide guidance and control for up to 32 long-range missiles at once get in the way of the international success of a small gaming PC buiilder. But I'll be happy to meet you with it halfway between New Zealand and Pearl Harbor in a skiff under the cover of night. (IMG:http://www.pabook.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue2.gif)

@Hester: I don't post in threads like that any more. I already said all I care to on such matters as of about a year ago. (IMG:http://www.pabook.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/tongue2.gif) Plus I've recently come to respect quite a few folks with widely varying opinions on that sort of topic, and I'm no longer going to delve into slinging mud at the risk of getting it on people I now consider friends. But I will HOTLY debate anyone over which tequila is the finest, and on natural breasts vs. implants.
